THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 1 – Regina:
Our longest-serving employee will soon have completed 30 years. The trained bakery saleswoman realized early on that she would rather sell rooms than rolls and ended up at the Markusturm in the 90s. Two baby breaks later - and of course the kids are now grown up - she is still here and our most important part-time employee at reception so that the other two party girls don't always have to work at the weekend 😉
She not only has the key to the rooms, but also to the hearts of our guests with her gentle and always positive manner. Thank you Regina for your many years of loyalty!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 2 - Andrea:
. . . has our cockpit - the reception - well under control. She is only in her comfort zone on the most turbulent days, because things have to run smoothly, otherwise it's boring. She manages to keep a constant eye on the entire occupancy of the hotel and always works in the middle of the action in a confined space. Andrea has also helped write a few stories over the years and is an important part of the Markusturm family. Fifteen years ago, she was handed the helm directly in flight. Since then, she has never left our Airbus and flies you First Class. May our tank never run dry - THANK YOU, Andrea!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 3: Hatice
It has been impossible to imagine our housekeeping team without her since 2012. Our hard-working Turkish bee not only provides us with sugar-sweet baklava on a regular basis, but also with positive energy. Our team needs this to get the house in shape every day, no matter how hot it is in summer or how busy it is in December. Hatice is calmness personified, even when it feels like 39 degrees and others are already throwing in the towel. Thanks to her, the motivation in the team is never at rock bottom, even on stressful days. THANK YOU Hatice!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 4: Emira
Emira came to Rothenburg and the Markusturm from Bosnia-Herzegovina back in 1993, with her mother as a young woman. She had to return home in 1999. But Rothenburg never let her go... and so she came to the Markusturm in 2016 and we welcomed her back to the team with a kiss on the hand. She now has our restaurant firmly under control, bringing you the first coffee in the morning or the last wine in the evening. Always with a gentle smile - THANK YOU Emira!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 5: Zijad
... our H E R O. Without him, we and our guests would be pretty lost. Our right-hand man parks your car and drives it back to the Grand Hotel on departure, helps you with your luggage and takes care of everything that needs to be done in a large hotel. Like his wife (and colleague) Emira, he was also in Rothenburg back in the 90s. In 2017, he was finally able to return to Germany - back to his wife and to our business, which he now knows like the back of his hand. THANK YOU Zijad!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 6: Hanka (Hanna)
“Where are you?” - And then you know Hanna is there! Her cheerful way of asking how you are today immediately puts a smile on everyone's face. Her nimble manner is an asset in both breakfast service and housekeeping. A strong woman, indestructible and always in a great mood - a gift for the team and guests since 2018. Mashallah and THANK YOU Hanka!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 7: Uli
Shortly after her training, in 1990, Ulrike joined our hotel. Even back then, she was the housekeeper's right-hand woman and made sure that our guests felt completely at ease. Then came a very, very long break, during which she raised a son and ended up in geriatric care. Last year, a nostalgic visit to our restaurant quickly turned into a return to work. We are very grateful to have Uli back in our team. Working with a wide variety of languages in a confined space and under time pressure requires a lot of stamina, which she demonstrates every day. We know that - THANK YOU Uli!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 8: Mediha
The third in the Hero bunch. Zijad's cousin joined our team just in time for the start of this year's season. She quickly integrated herself into the housekeeping team and has become an important player in our women's team. From time to time she even brings her son with her, who, at the age of 4, actively supports us. Whether defense or defense - she can do everything. THANK YOU Mediha!
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 9: Eva
Our Hungarian H E L D I N came to us in the middle of the season. Last year she was still assisting Alexander Hermann as a cook, but in September she came to Rothenburg for love and joined us in the Markusturm as part of the housekeeping team. We immediately took her, her positive nature and her little daughter to our hearts. She often comes to work with us because it's almost nicer here than at school lunchtime supervision 😉
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 10: Stephan
Without him, none of this would exist. Stephan is the 4th generation of the 125-year-old company and provides our guests with the finest old-school Franconian cuisine. He runs the kitchen on his own, which is why we only serve what he can prepare with a clear conscience. A good sauerbraten according to an old recipe with tasty potato dumplings, an intense dark red wine sauce and finely seasoned red cabbage... makes many hearts beat faster. Even in the morning, he never misses the opportunity to be there. So if you want to hear a few good anecdotes and stories from Rothenburg or about the Markusturm, you should listen carefully ... THANK YOU, Stephan! Thank you, dad
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 11: Lilo
Our “Neigschmeggde” (= newcomer). She met Stephan in Heidelberg and fell for his trick with the chip shop (it's best to talk to him about it). The Markusturm was made for her. There is hardly any other industry where you can meet so many different, great people from all over the world every day. Language is known to open doors; Lilo can even score with Italian, French, Spanish and a few chunks of Japanese. For more than thirty years now, she has been in charge of the bookkeeping and the office and gives free rein to her creativity when it comes to any interior or exterior change. An interior designer has truly been lost in her - but the Markusturm really does make dreams come true. THANK YOU, Lilo! Thank you, mom
THIS IS US … We proudly present our team, part 12: Lissy
She never really left, and yet she only really got into the family business in 2022. A few years in the W A N D E R S C H A F T have shown her that her heart beats for her home and the business and that she only wants to implement all her ideas in the Markusturm. Whether she has really come to stay or whether she will go out into the wide world again is still written in the stars. But the fact that she has found her life's work in the Markusturm and the future of the Markusturm itself are certain. THANK YOU, Lissy!
. . . has the most important and at the same time most chilled jobs in the Markusturm: Guest Relation Manager, Concierge, Security and Boss. He knows exactly who has a good heart and loves to be cuddled. When he purrs loudly, you know we're friends. He eyes dogs disparagingly, but doesn't let them bother him - he knows it's his territory. So why let him get stressed. And even the bright children are allowed to cuddle him - he's never put out a claw! This calmness really rubs off...
